Overview
The history of image manipulation can be dated back to the early 1800’s at the invention of the first photograph but it can also be dated back further when we consider other forms of imagery not limited to photography. Valerie Hegarty is an American artist born in Vermont. She works with a variety of realistic looking art installations that include paintings, sculptures and conceptual art; often including elements of decay and destruction. Some of her pieces incorporate natural decay such as water damage, roots or branches.
