An artist who can master distortion becomes a real-life magician, bending reality to fit their own illogical fantasies. For me, Francis Bacon is one of those magicians. Oil Paint Practice #1


Yesterday I continued practicing my oil painting with my second attempt at oil, this time a portrait. My first was a landscape three days prior but it went pretty depressingly and was quite disheartening.

The Weeping Woman


In 1937 France, Pablo Picasso created an oil painting entitled The Weeping Woman. It was influenced in some part by Germany’s bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War also in 1937, which is considered by most to be the first bombing of a defenceless population by an air force. To further understand The Weeping Woman and it’s creation we must also look at the destruction of Guernica and the subsequent creativity this gave Picasso. Continue reading “The Weeping Woman”

Christopher Marley


Christopher Marley is an artist, designer, photographer and author who was born in Southern California with an ironic fear of bugs considering what he would later go on to do with his life. He spent much of his youth in Oregon and pursued a career in modelling before entering the art world and I can’t  help getting the impression that money was never an issue for this man.

Typography Research #1


Dale Dunning is a sculptor and artist who works primarily with metals such as bronze and aluminium to create art focussing on the human head.
